Whim a week #1 – The Avengers 3d

Today is “whim a week” day. The idea is that each week we do something together on a whim. Working at home for me has meant that I rarely leave the house. While it has it’s benefits, I’m starting to get a bit of cabin fever.

Our whim was going to the movies to see The Avengers 3D in the middle of the afternoon. My day started out as a 4 hour day. Intentionally chose to do a 4 hour day to squeeze in as much as I could into a regular 8 hour day. Lately I’ve been struggling so much to concentrate for a full day due to medical reasons. So the idea is to stay focussed and cram as much work as possible in to half a day.

By early afternoon we were both struggling a bit with frustrations of coding issues that wouldn’t go right. To get out of the house dh called an afternoon movie instead of a night time date.

The movie was enjoyable, I love marvel movies and marvel characters. Not to mention Joss Whedons’ writing and Robert Downey Jrs’ delivery. I’m tired and way past any sort of analytical dissection of the movie, so the most you’re getting out of me was that I liked it.

#photoadayMAY something that makes you happy

Farmers market and op shopping

Saturday once a month I go to the local farmers market. I admire this bread but don’t usually buy it, DH has coeliac disease and it is far too much for just me – and I never want him to feel like he’s missing out.

What would you tell your 15 year old self?

I’ve just read a blog post by Gemma Jones about what she would tell her 15 year old self. Some of hers resonated with me, some not so much. My main two would be look after your health, and be confident. These are two I’m still telling myself now, maybe if I had have started 18 years ago I’d be ahead of where I am now.

I was a moody teen, and I in some ways I’m still a moody adult. Although after much investigation I think a lot of it is health related, with an element of confidence thrown in there for good measure. These are the things now that I’m working on in order to generally feel more content.

Follow your heart is the third in my list. I’m not unhappy with where I am, but there were passions I had as a kid that I’ve let go and picking them up again now makes me a little wistful about what might have been.

My motto starting now, and I know it will be hard to  follow, look after yourself, be confident and follow your passions.

Live! your life. Then rest.

The white hills cemetery

I’ve been driving past the white hills cemetery for months now, admiring the beauty and the tranquility of the big peppercorn trees at the entrance.

Productive weekend doing tutorials

I’ve done two photoshop tutorials this weekend.

The first was a retro poster for a friend. The tutorial can be found herehttp://www.tutorial9.net/tutorials/photoshop-tutorials/create-a-retro-pop-style-wallpaper/ and the second one I’ve completed is this one http://www.online-photoshoptutorials.com/2008/09/creating-a-retro-grunge-poster.html

So I’m smart enough to follow a tutorial :)

I created this printable from an online tutorial I found here http://designm.ag/resources/create-a-cool-text-effect-in-photoshop-with-a-single-texture/

Mar 22 ok, so i give up on the numbers…

Some beautiful home grown jalapenos ready for pickling! Hubby loves these and my plant is giving a pretty good number of chillies. The more I ignore them the better they grow. I hit a milestone yesterday with growing zucchinis, I hadn’t checked the garden in a few days and voila! two massive zucchinis sitting in the vegie patch.

The contractor who laid this concrete 12 months ago is insisting that there is nothing wrong with it.

To answer your question, yes it has a couple of massive cracks in it, the sealer has dribbled, and there are unsealed patches. Add this to my ongoing collection of gripes about tradesmen.
